Welcome. I am a renaissance woman with a passion for teaching both visual arts and life science.
I have always creatively combined my love for the arts and sciences in my career.
In addition to selling my art in galleries and online, I have worked as a camp naturalist, a botanist, a stitcher for the opera, a college biology professor, a college oil paining instructor, and a board certified middle school teacher of gifted students.
I am currently focusing on watercolor painting, but I have also painted extensively in oils, and multiple drawing media as well. I recently took some college classes in Photoshop, and I enjoy altering photos as well as creating digital paintings.
I have also made stoneware pottery, fiber arts, and designed costumes for theater, opera, and historical reenactment.
My paintings and drawings are often inspired by the beauty and complexity of natural world or the human form. I am also inspired by the naturalist illustrators and many periods and styles of oil painting.
In addition, my students consistently inspire me to be both a better artist and a better teacher.
